History of generation.
Saturday, January 19, 2013

It's quite interesting to know that my mum and late grandad was involved around this stuffs, they lived there @ the Istana Kampong Glam for years until during 2001 or earlier th government decided to  take th land they lived all their life.
In 1896, the family of Tengku Alam fought over the inheritance rights of the Istana, giving the British the chance to take over the estate as state land. However, the Sultan Hussien Ordinance of 1905 allowed the descendants of the royal family to continue living in the estate and claiming allowance from the British colonial government.
After independence, the Singapore government also allowed the royal descendants to continue staying in Istana Kampong Glam. They were given $250,000 to $350,000 annually in the nineties until the Istana was selected for conservation and restoration in 2001. The descendants of the royal family of Sultan Hussien, formerly the rightful owner of Singapore, left the Istana and were seldom heard of since then.
Gotten to know my late great grandad name thru research. So my mum had discontinue th name generation of Tengku since she couldn't pass th name down to her children ( me and my sisters ) th name unless she's a man. If you get what i mean. For her, it's an endless initial Tengku front name. Tengku Shirene Bte Tengku Shariff Bin Tengku Abdul Samad Bin Tengku.... Bin Tengku.... Endless. But as for my uncles they could still pass th names down to their children and their children could pass it down from generation to generation unless they gave it to a baby girl thats when they are not permitted to pass down th generation.

Only my family and my cousins that their mum ( my aunts ) has the front initial name couldn't pass it down anymore which consider our generation for this was done. We're th last generation for this. My family wasn't alone here in Singapore, we're just scattered around just like th article saying.

Goodbye.
